About Pembroke

Pembroke is a town and former county town of Pembrokeshire in West Wales.

The town itself is centred on Main Street, which is the only street that is inside the original walls.

King Henry V11 was born at Pembroke Castle, the remains of a stone medieval castle. 

Monkton Priory was renovated by the Knights in the last century.  The first stone building was a defensive tower, now known as the Medieval Chapel.  The remains of a Great Hall sit to the north.  It was used as an early church and the layout mirrors St Govan's Chapel.  In 1866 it became the brewery for York tavern!

Pembroke Town Hall has an interesting display of murals depicting the history of Pembroke.  Follow the town trail which starts from the town quay!

Pembroke has 2 primary schools and 1 secondary school, a library, a tourist information centre, football/rugby/cricket club, leisure centre, banks, post office, doctors', chemist, opticians and vets.
