Very Efficient Team!

"Very efficient team! Your driver found us on time, even though the house we were staying at was right at the end of a remote lane. The dispatcher had made a big effort to get all the location details. A pleasant chat on the history of the Lizard area made the journey to Redruth station an education. 5*s!"

About Abercastle

Abercastle is a village in the Welsh language speaking area of Pembrokeshire and has a working harbour which used to trade and export local slate and grain, limestone, butter, honey, corn, and some coal. There can also be found the remains of some 19th century limekilns.

Abercastle is also well known for Alfred Johnson who landed at Abercastle on Saturday, August 12, 1876 after sixty six days sailing from Gloucester, Massachusetts and became the first person to make the single-handed Atlantic crossing. There is a plaque made of Welsh Slate on the quay wall near the slipway which was unveiled by Alfred Johnson's grandson, Charlie Dickman on October 17, 2003.

Nowadays Abercastle is popular with divers, who like to visit the wreck of the LEYSIAN which lies only 50 mts from the cliffs. It is a favourite with fishermen and there are also a couple of climbing sites in the area.  The harbour is also a good launching area for sea Kayakers.

Situated on the Pembrokeshire Coast path, Abercastle is a popular stop off point for walkers too.
