Very Efficient Team!

"Very efficient team! Your driver found us on time, even though the house we were staying at was right at the end of a remote lane. The dispatcher had made a big effort to get all the location details. A pleasant chat on the history of the Lizard area made the journey to Redruth station an education. 5*s!"

About Totnes

Totnes is a medium sized Devon town with a population of around 7,500. It is situated at the head of the River Dart estuary within the South Devon Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The nearest large town/city is Exeter situated about 22 miles (35km) north.

Totnes is a thriving and pretty town, known for its music, theatre, art and natural health and is often referred to as containing a sizeable "New Age" community where such people live an alternative lifestyle.

Some history:

Around 1136, it is said that the mythical founder of Britain, "Brutus of Troy" came ashore and allegedly first stepped on a stone that was later (and still is) set into the pavement of Fore Street, Totnes. Brutus stepped from his ship and as he did so, he proclaimed that "Here i stand and here i rest, and this place shall be called Totnes" - Yeah that definitely happened!

Totnes has a definite recorded history that goes back to when its first castle was built in AD907. By the 12th century Totnes had become an important market town and this is evidenced by the number of merchants houses built in the 16th and 17th centuries.
