Very Efficient Team!

"Very efficient team! Your driver found us on time, even though the house we were staying at was right at the end of a remote lane. The dispatcher had made a big effort to get all the location details. A pleasant chat on the history of the Lizard area made the journey to Redruth station an education. 5*s!"

About Salcombe

Salcombe, (not to be confused with Salcombe Regis which is a village near Sidmouth some 40 miles away as the crow flies)  is a town in South Devon, close to the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary.  Lying within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the town's extensive waterfront and naturally sheltered harbour formed by the estuary gave rise to its success as a shipbuilding and sailing port in the past. Today it is a tourist destination especially for pleasure sailing and yachting.  There is also still a strong crabbing industry.  There are a number of shipwrecks off Salcombe, one is of a Bronze Age ship, one of only three known in Britain, which had French made weapons and jewellery on board, although the first recorded appearance for "Salcombe" is as late as 1244.  According to their 2001 census, the population of Salcombe was 1,893.
